Hey ya’ll, it has been a while. I did not continue with Kesh’s 100 days of sketching. I’m grateful for what I have accomplished thus far, but I need a change to revamp my drawing journey. I’ve spent some time reflecting and have decided to do weekly posts with a monthly theme. Since I am starting at the end of November; the first monthly theme will be longer than a month. I have other interests and have struggled to devote time to all of them. My other interests include playing the trumpet, writing, and music composition.
Ground Rules
To devote time to all of my hobbies, I need a few ground rules.
- Don’t have to do each hobby every day.
- Must commit time to each hobby most days of the week.
- Tie hobbies together as applicable.
So, playing the trumpet is a bit of an outlier. For now, let’s ignore it. I can tie drawing and writing together. Possibly, I could tie music composition and drawing together as well. Heck, all three can be related. Here’s how. The first monthly theme is fantasy characters. The characters I draw can be used in future stories I write. And I can tie in music composition by creating themes for each character. I don’t have a composition for this week’s character theme. I may come up with one later and update this post. Anyway, let’s move on.
Why Fantasy Characters?
I like fiction and playing Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). I enjoy creating characters for campaigns or one-shots. And given the variety of species and classes available, there is an opportunity for drawing unique characters. For the writing portion, I may not write in a D&D setting but use the character in a fantasy story.
Choosing Characters to Draw for the Monthly Theme
There are 10 different species and 12 different classes. So I grabbed a D10 and a D12 and started rolling.
